Cadillac's Formula 1 Team has long been a powerful force on the racing circuit. Now the outfit gets even stronger with a new addition. Cadillac's Formula 1 Team now welcomes the arrival of Colton Herta, who has claimed nearly ten wins in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Herta joins the squad as a Test Driver as the team prepares for the 2026 season.
Cadillac Formula 1 Team's New Acquisition
Colton Herta's move to the Cadillac Formula 1 Team opens fresh possibilities for both Herta and the team. For Herta, it marks a celebrated return to European competition. He's previously scored top results on European tracks and aims to build on that success with Cadillac in 2026. Herta began racing in Europe in 2015, and just two years later, he notched six podiums, five pole positions, and four wins in the Euroformula Open Championship. Beyond that championship, Herta has raced at several high-profile European events, including multiple British F5 races — earning a victory at Brands Hatch plus three additional podiums. He returned to racing in the U.S. in 2017.
While his European record is notable, Herta's achievements in the U.S. are equally impressive. In under eight INDYCAR seasons, he's notched nine wins, led over 1,000 laps, and captured 16 pole positions. He was also the youngest driver to claim an INDYCAR SERIES pole and the youngest to win an INDYCAR SERIES race. On top of that, Herta has scored class wins in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2019 and 2022.
Herta looks to bring that talent and experience to the Cadillac Formula 1 Team. The team is excited to add his intuition, energy, insight, and global perspective to their program.
