TWG Motorsports and GM receive formal approval for Cadillac Formula 1 team

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has just secured final approval to enter the Formula 1 grid in 2026. Backed by TWG Motorsports and General Motors, they'll join the existing ten teams on the circuit.

Over the past year, TWG Motorsports and General Motors have been dedicated to bringing a Cadillac entry into Formula 1. In March 2025, the outfit was confirmed to have met all of its requirements in what FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem called a “milestone.” President Sulayem noted that adding Cadillac aligns perfectly with the new FIA 2026 regulations and said he hopes the addition of an eleventh team will motivate future competitors and thrill fans.

Several key appointments have been announced in recent months, including former Marussia Sporting Director Graeme Lowdon as Team Principal and industry veteran Russ O'Blenes stepping in as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units.

Cadillac's operation spans multiple sites across the United States, and even maintains a base in Silverstone, England. Since the bid to join the Formula 1 grid was unveiled, more than 200 specialists have been working on aerodynamics and component development.

Though there's still plenty to do, the Cadillac squad is confident their arrival in Formula 1 will energize the sport.
