Cadillac announced this past August that they have plans to release their first hybrid prototype race car for the 2023 model year. This is a V-Series prototype that is going to be driven at the 2023 Le Mans Race. Cadillac hasn’t been part of the Le Mans competition in nearly 20 years. Dallara has created this LMDh-V.R race car in hopes of dominating the competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech Series.
Constructed using a standard Cadillac chassis, the LMDh-V.R race car will have a very powerful hybrid powertrain. The LMDh category has a maximum of 500 kW with about 670 horsepower. On the exterior of the LMDh, you’ll notice that the curves and angles are designed to look very modern. This is going to be a vehicle worth keeping an eye on once it hits the race track. Cadillac intends to use this vehicle to keep up with the ever-changing automobile market as it will contribute to the all-electric future of Cadillac and its competition.
Working on the LMDh release is Chip Ganassi Racing and Action Express Racing. Prior to being driven on the Le Mans track, you’ll be able to take a peek at this hybrid race car at the 2023 Rolex 24 at Daytona. We’re excited to see what this vehicle can accomplish after nearly 20 years of Cadillac taking a break from the race car world.
